Previously, Janice managed the Alaska Behavioral Health Careers Program, which included the Raven's Quest Summer Institute, a program to encourage Alaska students into the behavioral health field. Janice also worked with several rural communities conducting health care needs assessments and participated in health care workforce studies.

Before joining the ACRH team, Janice spent time in the education field. She taught in a K-12 school in Atka, Alaska, worked in an environmental education program in Southeast Alaska, and also worked for an educational resource center in Anchorage. When Janice is not at work, she likes to spend time hiking, kayaking, knitting, birdwatching, and taking care of her dog Midnight.

Janice says, "I have thoroughly enjoyed working with community members across the state in both rural and urban Alaskan. As a lifelong Alaskan, it's nice to know there are so many committed individuals working towards improving access to our health care system in Alaska and getting local Alaskans trained for health care jobs across the state."
