PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS

Preparing for college can be a challenging process, but rest assured it doesn't have to be, if you allow yourself plenty of time. Normally we recommend prospective students allow a minimum of six months to prepare, although nine months to a year is more ideal.
  1. Take ACT, SAT and/or Placement Tests
  2. Apply for Admission to UAA
  3. Order required Transcripts and Test Scores
  4. Determine how you will pay for college
  5. Apply for Financial Aid - if needed
  6. Apply for On-Campus Housing - if needed
  7. Complete your Admission File
  8. Sign up for an Orientation Session
  9. Meet with an Academic Advisor
  10. Register for Classes
  11. Pay for Classes
  12. Get your WOLFcard (student ID card)

PLANNING FOR SUCCESS

For high school seniors or prospective students who are already out of high school, the link below has steps that will give you an idea of the time required to put together your plans for attending college.

The important and consistent face is this: “It takes time to prepare to enroll in a degree program in college, in occupation training or in selected courses of study.” Below is an example of a Planning Cycle for a student who wants to make the most of the opportunities in preparation for attending college.

DEVELOPING A SCHOLARSHIP FOLDER

It is important to allow yourself at least three to four weeks to develop your scholarship folder. Don’t throw your scholarship folder together in three or four days - you will forget something.

The presentation of your scholarship folder is important. It should be neat, well organized and words and/or terms should be spelled correctly (i.e. use spell checker).

You will probably apply for more than one scholarship during your college career, so always make sure you keep a back-up copy (cd and paper) of all applications you submit.

Be sure to review the selection criteria for the scholarship and make sure that you address each item

The link below will give you additional tips on developing an excellent scholarship folder.
